My name is David Shannon and my father is Coleman Gilbert Shannon and his mother was Armilda Henderson.  Her parents, Thomas Henderson & Alice Wagers and several other family members are buried in Estill Co., Kentucky on Red Lick Road in the Henderson Family Cemetery.  Thomas Henderson's parents, Othaniel Dudley Henderson (O. D.) Henderson and Susannah Barker are also buried there. Two of Armilda's sisters died at a young age and are buried there, as well.  Most of the graves in this family cemetery are directly part of the Henderson family, but there are other people that lived in that area that are buried there.  At this point, there are only pictures I have taken from the cemetery.  The gentleman in some of the pictures is Luther Henderson.

My purpose is 2-fold.  I hope if you are searching and find this site it is helpful to you...  And if you can provide more information of my family history, please contact me.  I can be contacted at this link:

HENDERSON CEMETERY

ESTILL CO. KENTUCKY

Driving Directions:

Take Highway 499 West off of US 52 (there is a McDonalds at the intersection)
go 1.7 miles on 499 West and turn left onto Red Lick Road.
Take Red Lick Road 5.6 miles and the Henderson Cemetery Road will be on your right.
This is an undeveloped access road, limited gravel access. The cemetery is at the top of the hill

This research all started for me, due to my grandmother, Armilda Henderson Shannon.  Top right in the picture above.
"Ma-maw" was born March 23, 1891 and died March 22, 1983, just one day short of her 92nd birthday.
Shown with Armilda are her sisters Winnie, Nannie & Annie.  Even though none of the four girls pictured are buried in the Henderson Cemetery,
they had two sisters, Nona and an unnamed infant, to die early in life and they are buried there next to their mother, Alice Wagers Henderson.
