Cart Machine....  Lamp?

Why Not?

If you have been around the radio biz for a while, I'm sure you have some really interesting memories of this classic piece of radio equipment, the ITC Cart Machine!!  The example above is a Harris machine that we made for a customer.

This makes a great retirement gift for any radio personality, engineer, program director, or anyone else that has put in their years on the air or behind the scenes.  What a great conversation piece it could be just sitting in your office or den (or, if your wife would let you, maybe up on the mantle!).

We can make the wood base slightly larger than the machine to allow space to add an engraving to mark the occasion.

You need to supply the machine and we can do the rest.  Price varies slightly depending on the size of the machine, normally about $150.00, plus shipping.

How do you turn the lamp on?

Insert a  cart, how else??

When the cart is in, the light is on, eject the cart and the light goes off!!

Above and below is the original "classic" ITC cart machine custom lamp that we designed for Radio personality John Quincy of Charleston, SC.  

In addition to a 3-way lamp socket switch in the traditional place on the lamp and the above mentioned cart activated switch inside the lamp we replaced the original "red" button with a "white" button that is a working switch to operate the light.  As long as there is a cart in place, this switch can turn the lamp on and/or off.

This lamp was a special custom order item.  I do not have this exact lamp available for purchase.  However, if a customer provides us with a cart machine we can do the rest.  Estimated price would be $150.00, plus mailing cost.  The price may vary somewhat as I have seen several different styles and sizes of these machines.
 
This may also be a trigger as to what other items could be converted.  I've always thought that an old radio studio microphone with its built in stand would  be awesome. I'd love to make one for someone out there!
