My name is David Shannon and I am sharing research information I have gathered based on family memories and information gathered from actual tombstones. Most information gathered is directly from the gravestones at the Wagers-Brinegar Cemetery on Highway 89 in rural Estill County, Kentucky. This area is known as Wagersville. My great-great-great-grandfather is James Wagers and his son Sidney David (S. D.) Wagers & his wife Emeline Park Wagers would be my great-great-grandparents. They are the parents of my great-grandmother Alice Wagers who married Thomas Henderson of Red Lick Road in Estill County. Thomas and Alice are buried on Red Lick Road at the Henderson Family Graveyard. There are several other connections to me at the Wagers-Brinegar Cemetery including Thomas Henderson's sister, Chrisellen Henderson Scrivner and her husband William Anderson Scrivner. Death Certificates are a good source for additional information. Most include birth date, death date, parents name, cause of death, residence at time of death, and other information. There are mistakes on grave inscriptions as well as mistakes on Death Certificates. It is always good to check both items for information.
