Since 1972, we have manufactured our own line of lamp shades. Under the trade name "Shamrock Shades" we are able to offer ANY SIZE Lamp Shade you may need! We stock hundreds of lamp shades ready made for your convenience. However, with the thousands of possibilities we often need to custom make your shade in the size and fabric you may need. We offer this service at no additional charge, truly - Custom Work, without the Custom Price!

If you are in our area, it is highly recommended that you bring your lamp in for a proper fit. However, if that is not possible, we have provided a guide below to properly measure your shade for a replacement.

How to Properly Measure Your Lamp Shade

Note: When you order your lamp shade try to give us the measurements in the following order to avoid confusion.
Top, Bottom, & Length

1. Measure the size across the top of the shade.

2. Measure the size across the bottom of the shade.

3. Measure the length of the shade (This would be from top to bottom on the outside edge).

4. Type of fitter: (1) washer, (2) regular clip, (3) candle clip, (4) uno (See explanation below), (5) chimney (size of chimney ring), (6) slip washer, (7) glass reflector (size of reflector, usually 6”, 8”, or 10”). NOTE: The uno fitter that we offer is made to screw onto the threaded end of a metal lamp socket. Many of the new imported lamps are designed to use a lamp shade with a fitter that looks like a "Uno" fitter, but it does not have threads. The traditional Uno fitter that we offer will not fit on those lamps. This uno fitter is designed to attach a lamp shade to a hanging metal socket, normally on a bridge floor lamp. 5. Measure the recess of the fitter (This is most easily measured by turning the shade upside down on a table top. Then measure from the table surface to the fitter of the shade)

#1 Washer: This is the most common lamp shade fitter. If your lamp uses a harp (see picture), you will need a washer fitter.

#2 Regular Clip: This is the fitter you need if your light bulb is a standard household bulb as shown in the picture above. Smaller lamps sometimes require a candle bulb and proper clip, shown below.

#3 Candle Clip: This is the fitter you need if your light bulb is the pointed bulb as shown in the picture above. These shades are normally smaller than the shade that fits on a standard bulb, shown below.

#3 Uno: This is the fitter you need if your light bulb hangs down from a floor lamp or table lamp and the socket has threads on the outside of the metal shelled lamp socket. Se this link for more information:

We do carry a wide variety of fabrics to choose from. We decline to show fabric samples "on-line" due to major variations in personal computer screens. We would not be able to guarantee color dye-lots, etc. You may contact us and we can discuss fabric availability. We will show a couple of choices for clarification.

We offer the oil treated paper parchment shades in two choices, Light and Dark. The following picture shows one of each on lamps using 100 watt light bulbs. Remember these shades will vary somewhat from each batch that is oiled. The light is not white, but close. It does mellow out rather quickly and softens with age.

Another choice that we offer that needs a visual clarification is our #704 - Black shade with a Tortex interior. This is a slightly textured black vinyl exterior laminated to a paper stock with a modeled tortex lining. See pictures of the shade and a close-up of the liner below.

We also still make an authentic Oil Rubbed Parchment Shade. We offer both dark and light. The dark is shown below on a bridge lamp with a Uno fitter. Parchment shades are ideal for a true antique look. Another advantage to Parchment Shades is they are EASY to clean.

Shaped Shades have become extremely popular for just the right fit for many lamps. We offer many shapes, examples of such shades are pictured at left.

Cut & Pierced Shades are available in many stores these days, but at Shannon's, as pictured at left & below, we hand-cut any design you may want on any size you may need. We offer these shades with hand-painted color on the inside or left without color.

As large as our fabric selection may be, we still are limited when it comes to stock colors and designs. However, another service we provide is laminating. You may provide us with your fabric & we can custom design a shade like the examples at the right.
